Fizzy Grinch

December 17, 2019 by Nicole Collins

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch!

But, I know it’s not your fault. I know it’s just cause you’ve had a long hard day and need a little help unwinding.

That’s where I come in! Your heart will be three sizes too big in no time!

Today’s three ingredient drink is fun, fast, and delicious. What a great way to celebrate Day 5 in our 12 Days of Beverages challenge!

So what oh what is the cocktail that’s going to help swell that grumpy ol’ grinch’s heart?

Today, we’re making a Fizzy Grinch!

I mean, we all know bubbles can fix just about anything.

Like I said before, this is a quick three ingredient drink. We need some champagne (the fizzy), some midori liquor (the Grinch), and a little lemonade. This recipe is more about guesstimating and eyeballing (as most good cocktails are) then it is about actual measurements. But, I did my best to quantify the ingredients in the recipe below. Here’s our ultimate goal: equal parts lemonade and midori that fill about 1/3 of your glass. Then, the remaining 2/3 is a top off of champagne. So easy, right!

And, don’t worry. I’ve got a plan for the kiddos too. If you want to make a kid friendly Fizzy Grinch mocktail, use 1/3 glass of green Hawaiian Punch or Kool Aid and top it with 2/3 parts lemon lime soda. Still fizzy and still grinchy! For both drinks, give the Grinch a heart, and garnish with some fresh cranberries. What fun!

The end product is a slightly tangy, perfectly fizzy, bright green way to spread a little Christmas cheer over any cold heart! You’ll instantly feel warm and fuzzy…or fizzy!

Speaking of drinks to keep you warm, here’s what else we’ve made so far:

Alright everyone…you know the drill. Always be safe, and drink responsibly!

Let’s drink!

Fizzy Grinch

Serves: 1 Print

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ tbsp lemonade

  • 1 ½ tbsp midori melon liqueur

  • 5 oz champagne

  • frozen cranberries, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Pour lemonade and midori into a champagne flute. Top with champagne. Garnish with frozen cranberries, if desired. Serve immediately.

Recipe notes:

*If you choose to serve this in a glass other than a champagne flute, this is the basic ratio that we're going for: equal parts midori and lemonade to fill 1/3 of the glass and champagne to fill the other 2/3 of the glass.

*If you want to make a kids friendly drink, fill the glass 1/3 of the way with green Hawaiian Punch of Kool Aid, then top with 2/3 part lemon lime soda.

*Please drink responsibly!
