Bad Santa Hot Chocolate
December 16, 2019 by Nicole Collins
It's Day 4 in our 12 Days of Beverages Challenge, and I have an important question!
Do you guys think Santa ever ends up on the naughty list?
I do.
My guess is that as soon as December 26 strikes, Santa is dancing on tables and recording “Santas gone wild” videos.
I mean, if you had just a few hours to squeeze down millions of chimneys to deliver bags after bags of presents around the world while keeping a top secret identity, you’d need a drink when you got home too.
So, today’s drink is inspired by this notion. Because even Santa deserves to let loose every once in a while.
Today, we’re making Bad Santa Hot Chocolate!
Now, this one is just for the grown ups today. This spiked hot chocolate is for “me time” after the kiddos are sound asleep.
We start with your favorite hot chocolate mix. It doesn’t matter what kind you use (powder, k cup, brand name, store brand, etc). Just use what you like or what you probably already have laying around at home. I used a milk chocolate k-cup from Aldi, and it was the perfect base.
Prepare your hot chocolate, and get ready to naughty it up! To our hot chocolate, we’re going to add 1 shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream liquor and about a tablespoon of peppermint schnapps. Give it a stir, throw some marshmallows on top, and sit down to relax. That’s it. So quick and easy!
Now I always add some kind of cream to my hot chocolate mix, whether it’s milk, heavy cream, or coffee creamer. And, that’s the job the Bailey’s does here. The Bailey’s adds a sweet creaminess with that classic Irish cream flavor. Then, you’ve got the peppermint hiding in the background that isn’t overpowering but adds a spicy sweet zip and a kick.
This drink is super simple with zero effort involved. If you can measure and pour, you can have this drink ready to enjoy in a matter of minutes! And, because they come together so easily, you could certainly easily whip up multiples of these for your friends and family (or just for you).
While we’re thinking of what we can make our loved ones, lets review what we’ve made so far:
Day 1: Pretzel Hot Chocolate
Day 2: Apple Pear Sangria
Day 3: Ninjabread Hot Chocolate
That’s all I’ve got for today. Just always remember, please drink responsibly! Those candy canes might be able to hold Santa up after a few indiscretions, but I don’t think their magic will save us.
Cheers, and let’s drink!
